NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario — Blue Bird featured its electric school buses at the Canadian Pupil Transportation Conference trade show on Wednesday.

Attendees were able to preview Blue Bird’s All American RE Electric Type D and Micro Bird’s G5 Electric Type A school buses. At the conclusion of the show, Blue Bird hosted the Blue Bird Experience, a customer ride-and-drive featuring a full lineup of the school bus manufacturer’s products and services. School buses in the ride-and-drive event included electric buses and those powered by gasoline, diesel, and propane engines.

“We are excited to offer a ride-and-drive event in Canada that includes buses powered by multiple fuel types,” said Phil Horlock, president and CEO of Blue Bird Corp. “We are especially thrilled to show our new Blue Bird All American RE Electric bus with our partner Adomani. There is so much excitement around our new electric buses; we are open for business and taking orders.”

Blue Bird offers Type A, C, and D buses powered by an electric drivetrain. The electric models exceed all federal safety standard regulations and offer quiet operation, according to the manufacturer.

“The simplicity of the maintenance for electric school buses is a definite plus for many school districts,” Horlock added.

With orders in hand for fall delivery, Blue Bird electric buses are anticipated to be on the road for the start of the 2018-19 school year.

Blue Bird kicked off its national customer ride-and-drive events in California in January. The electric Type D bus made stops in Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, New York, and Florida, and made several other stops along the way to Ontario, according to the manufacturer.
