In retirement, Ron Latko launches consulting career

Soon after May 22, his last day working as director of transportation for Mesa Public Schools, Latko officially started Latko Consulting Inc. Electric school bus production to increase with $7.3M powertrain investment

Funding from investors comes as the second Motiv Power Systems-equipped Trans Tech all-electric school bus is delivered to Kings Canyon Unified School District in Reedley, California. Wisconsin contractors add 57 propane buses

Lamers Bus Lines added 41 new Blue Bird Propane Vision school buses, expanding the number of propane buses in its fleet to 59 units. Meanwhile, Badger Bus will receive 16 new Blue Bird Propane Vision buses, expanding its total propane-powered buses to 20 units.

7 Mississippi districts receive $105K for new buses to cut emissions

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality gives each district a $15,000 grant toward the purchase of a new bus to replace an older bus. Since 2009, through grants and the Mississippi School Bus Retrofit Project, the organization has retrofitted 1,931 school buses and provided partial funding for 10 new buses to reduce emissions.

Anti-idling contest saves about $15,000 in fuel

Douglas County (Colo.) School District’s transportation department sponsored a competition between its west, east and north terminals to see which group could turn in the lowest amount of school bus engine idling time. The winning terminal cut its idling time by 50% — and won a catered lunch.

Indiana district to equip 24 more buses with DPFs

Fort Wayne Community Schools gets a $314,108 grant to pay for the diesel particulate filters (DPFs) and the equipment to clean them. The addition of the Hug mobiclean filters will bring Fort Wayne’s total number of DPF-equipped buses to 160.

The supplier introduced a complete industrial and fleet fuel dispensing solution for high-flow, high-cycle CNG applications to the North American market at the 2014 Alternative Clean Transportation Expo.
