PHOTOS: Highlights from Jerry Rineer and Lower Merion School District

ManagementPhotos 7

Pupil transportation veteran Jerry Rineer will retire at the end of December 2014. Here's a handful of interesting photos of Rineer, his staff and family, and a recent trip to India.

Rineer is pictured here with Lower Merion School District maintenance staff members. Rineer is holding one of the awards that the district has won for its green fleet initiatives.

Lower Merion runs 61 school buses powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), which makes up nearly half of the district’s fleet of 117 buses.

Rineer is pictured here with Yolanda Vazquez, a reporter for MotorWeek, which did a segment on the district’s CNG buses.

Early in his career, Rineer recruited his father, Earl Rineer (seen here in a recent photo), to become a school bus driver. Earl Rineer, a World War II veteran, soon started training new drivers, and he continues to work in that role for Sague Bus Service in Pennsylvania.

Jerry Rineer (left), who will soon retire as supervisor of transportation at Pennsylvania’s Lower Merion School District, is pictured here with John Welsh, a veteran driver and trainer at the district. They are at the Pennsylvania governor’s residence, where Welsh and other state school bus safety competition winners were honored.

Rineer is an avid traveler. Before his pupil transportation career began, he traversed the U.S. and Canada in a pop-up trailer. He also spent some time working and exploring in Australia. He’s seen here playing elephant polo during a 2012 trip to India.
