The Propane Education and Research Council (PERC), Roush CleanTech, and the Mid-Atlantic Clean Cities Coalitions will host a webinar on operating propane school buses on Tuesday.

School transportation directors interested in learning more about propane school buses will have an opportunity to get their questions answered during the webinar, “Mid-Atlantic Propane School Bus Success Story and Virtual Facilities Tour,” which will take place at 1 p.m. Eastern Time, according to a news release from PERC.

“Transportation directors familiar with propane autogas and even those who are just starting their research will find value in this webinar,” said Ira Dorfman, executive director of the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition. “As a clean, affordable and available energy source, propane autogas can transform school bus fleets for the better.”

Steve Bell, the school transportation director for Derry Township Schools in Hershey, Pa., will be available to answer questions and provide a virtual tour of the district’s propane fleet and refueling infrastructure.

The webinar will also include information on why more than 1,000 school districts have adopted propane for their fleets and information on how fleet owners can maximize their funding.

“We continue to see that once transportation directors start to realize all the benefits of propane autogas — lower fuel and maintenance costs, reduced emissions, optimized performance, and the lowest refueling infrastructure costs of any energy source — they wonder why they didn’t adopt propane autogas sooner,” said Steve Whaley, director of autogas business development at PERC. “This webinar will provide transportation directors with the information they need to make that transition.”

While the webinar will specifically touch on funding opportunities for fleets in the Mid-Atlantic area, all transportation directors are invited to learn more about how propane can benefit school bus fleets.
