Coverage of the PSI 8.8-liter propane and gasoline engines on the IC Bus CE Series will expand to five years, unlimited miles.

LISLE, Ill. — Warranty coverage will be upgraded for Power Solutions International (PSI) engines in IC Bus units, the school bus OEM announced on Wednesday.

The new base warranty on PSI’s 8.8-liter propane and gasoline engines will be five years, unlimited miles — up from five years, 100,000 miles. The enhanced coverage will be standard on the IC Bus CE Series.

“We are excited to offer this level of coverage to our customers, and we are excited to work with our partner PSI on extending the warranty offered on their line of propane engines,” said Trish Reed, vice president and general manager of IC Bus. “This is a signal to our customers that we are committed to providing the most reliable buses in the industry with proven support from our supply partners.”

According to IC Bus, the CE Series with the PSI propane engine is designed to provide diesel-like performance with higher torque at lower engine speeds. The CE gasoline-powered school bus utilizes much of the same technology and engine architecture as the propane model.

In October, IC Bus parent company Navistar extended its engine supply agreement with PSI to run through 2021. The agreement, originally set to run through 2018, covers PSI's supply of the 8.8-liter propane and gasoline engines for IC Bus.
