IC Bus Brings Electric School Bus Tour to Washington State

IC Bus demonstrated its concept electric school bus, the chargE, at the LeMay America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, Washington, to high school students.

TACOMA, Wash. — IC Bus recently made another stop in its national electric school bus tour, this time at a museum, to demonstrate its concept electric school bus to local students.
On Monday, the school bus manufacturer demonstrated the chargE at the LeMay America’s Car Museum to Tacoma Public Schools students who attend the IDEA (Industrial Design Engineering and Arts) Highschool.
Students were able to experience firsthand electric school bus technology with an exclusive showing of the chargE. They were also able to interact with IC Bus engineers and learn about the complexities of transportation choices, real-world design of electric powertrains, and solutions for sustainable modes of transportation.
The chargE is a temporary extension of the new “Powering the Future” lab, the museum’s new hands-on learning lab that details the history of automotive propulsion and encourages students to be part of the movement toward a cleaner future.
The first stop on the IC Electric Bus tour was in California, at the California Association of School Transportation Officials conference in San Diego in March. Soon after, the chargE made an appearance in Sacramento, California, on April 6. The chargE will visit more than 10 locations throughout the West Coast on the first leg of the tour.
