TAMPA, Fla. — A 14-year-old boy and his stepfather have been charged in an attack on a 13-year-old boy at his school bus stop.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Raheem Davis was attacked on the morning of Dec. 13. Police said his attacker, Jontae Dellano, was armed with a homemade weapon consisting of a sock filled with padlocks.
The sheriff’s office’s investigation revealed that Dellano’s stepfather, Jamal Shields, drove Dellano to the bus stop and then encouraged him to attack Davis.
During the incident, Shields reportedly watched Dellano attack Davis and did nothing to stop it. He then drove Dellano back home. Officials said the attack was pre-planned and Shields knew exactly what was going to happen.
Davis was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Shields was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and contributing to the delinquency of a child. Dellano was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The attack stemmed from a fight between Davis and Dellano two weeks earlier at the school they attend, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
