WASHINGTON, D.C. — The EPA's National Clean Diesel Campaign (NCDC) has opened a grant competition to solicit applications for about $32 million in funding for clean diesel activities.
The request for proposal (RFP) is posted on the NCDC Website, with details on eligibility, program guidelines and submission instructions.
The program is soliciting proposals for projects that achieve significant reductions in diesel emissions, particularly from fleets in designated poor air quality areas.
Eligible diesel emission reduction solutions include verified retrofit devices, cleaner fuels, engine upgrades, idle-reduction technologies, aerodynamic technologies and low rolling-resistance tires, certified engine repowers, and vehicle or equipment replacement.
School buses are among the eligible diesel vehicles.
The RFP will close on Jan. 13. The EPA said it plans to award the grants resulting from the competition in May.
