MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Four high school students here were injured after being struck by a car while waiting for the school bus at their stop on Tuesday, police said.
Just before 7 a.m., one car, a blue Ford, had exited a gas station and was traveling northbound on Georgia Ave, according to a news release from the Montgomery County Police Department. A white Volkswagen was also traveling northbound on the roadway, and the two vehicles collided. The Volkswagen then left the roadway and struck the students, who were waiting on the sidewalk at their bus stop.
One 15-year-old student was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the other three were transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, police said.
The 25-year-old driver of the Ford was not hurt, while the 21-year-old driver of the white vehicle suffered non life-threatening injuries, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
As previously reported, the incident follows another crash in the area that same day, involving another high school student, Kyle Lynam. He died after being struck by an SUV just about 35 miles away while he was running to catch the bus on Tuesday morning.
