Another School Bus Fatality Reported in Monsey, New York
A 7-year-old girl died after being struck by a school bus in Rockland County, New York while crossing the street. Here's what we know.

The latest tragedy comes as the industry continues working to improve pedestrian safety through training, public awareness, and stop-arm enforcement.
School Bus Fleet
Yesterday, a New York girl was killed by a school bus in Monsey. The accident happened the morning of July 8 during a busy time in a densely populated neighborhood on Blauvelt Road.
Ramapo police said a Yeshiva Viznitz school bus hit and killed the young pedestrian, who was 7 years old and was reportedly trying to cross the road. Hatzalah EMS pronounced her dead at the scene.
Local news outlet The Monsey Scoop identified the girl as Blima Weber.
The driver was 28 years old and cooperated with investigators. No driver impairment was found, and speed is not believed to be a factor. No criminal charges have been filed.
The investigation is ongoing.
Unfortunately, this is not the first fatal accident in the area. Earlier this year, a Brooklyn, N.Y., 11-year-old was struck and killed by a school bus while crossing the street, and a 5-year-old died after a school bus accident. Before that, an 8-year-old boy was hit and killed by a bus in New Square. And in 2022, several children were seriously injured after a school bus lost control on the road and crashed into a house in Ramapo.
