Maine’s Kevin Mallory honored for ‘green’ bus efforts

Arizona district adds 61 Blue Bird propane buses to fleet

Mesa Public Schools has purchased 55 Blue Bird Propane-Powered Vision school buses and six wheelchair accessible buses to increase its propane bus total to 89. The district, which has a goal of operating the nation’s first all-propane yellow bus fleet, expects to save $4.43 million in operating costs over a five-year period.

District receives $500K grant for bus fleet upgrades

The $499,994 three-year Natural Gas Vehicle Development Program grant is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. It will be used by Rose Tree Media School District to convert 14 existing diesel buses to compressed natural gas (CNG) and also to begin the process of purchasing eight new CNG buses.

Cleaire assets acquired by ESW

Cleaire, which offered a variety of diesel particulate filters to retrofit school buses and other vehicles, closed in January. Environmental Solutions Worldwide has now acquired Cleaire's product line and certain assets, and California air officials say that the company "is committed to providing technical and warranty support to Cleaire customers."

Propane buses save Indiana district 50% on fuel costs

Tippecanoe School Corp. purchased five Propane-Powered Blue Bird Vision school buses last year, and Director of Transportation Kevin Neafie says the district pays nearly half the price for propane compared to diesel, and that so far, the operation has saved $10,000 on these five buses alone.
