Following a September 9 school bus fire in Montreal, LION, formerly LION Electric, has released a new inspection bulletin addressing the HVAC control panel wiring on all Lion360 (diesel) and LionC buses, including third generation and earlier buses (Gen3, Gen2, and Gen1).

"We have identified some potential anomalies in a sub-component of the HVAC system that LION obtains from a third-party supplier," the bulletin states.

The bulletin instructs operators to inspect and modify low-voltage electrical connections, including replacing specific connectors and fuses, adding a new 5A fuse to the HVAC control circuit, and inspecting fan switches, solenoid terminals, and bulkhead studs for signs of wear or overheating.

The procedure, estimated at four hours of repair time, must be performed on all affected buses to ensure safety and prevent potential electrical faults. LionC Gen 4 models (identified by a "5" in the eighth VIN position) are not affected by this inspection.

Operators are required to complete this inspection, confirm functionality of all HVAC controls, and report results to LION's warranty department, including any anomalies or part replacements.

For questions or support, operators can contact Mathieu Guay Brassard, chief technical engineer - service engineer. Confirmation of procedure completion should be sent to garantie.warranty@thelionelectric.com.
