Steve and Andrew Gardner, a father-son team with Ohio-based Gardian Angel LLC, saw their U.S. flag hoisted above the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.

The Gardners received the honor from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ahead of Flag Day in recognition of their public safety efforts. Gardian Angel offers a school bus lighting system that's currently available in 25 states.

"I'm so completely honored," said Gardian Angel founder Steve Gardner.

The 5-foot by 8-foot flag came back in a white cardboard box with instructions for caring for the flag, as well as a signed certificate of authenticity.

"This is something I'll treasure for the rest of my life," said Andrew Gardner. "We are truly humbled to be individually named in this document and to be given such recognition by one of the most powerful women in American political history is just amazing."
