When she refused, parents started to enter the school bus, broke the door, and a 16-year-old girl punched the driver in the face.

Indiana school bus drivers denied unemployment over summer break

A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit from school bus drivers, Head Start teachers and teachers’ aides to receive unemployment benefits during summer break from school. The workers sued after a change to state unemployment law in 2012 meant they were no longer eligible for unemployment during planned breaks in employment.

2 school bus drivers charged with selling heroin

Police arrested Jorge "Wapito" Aviles and Ashley Byrdsong, both of whom work for DATTCO in Connecticut, after authorities searched their homes and allegedly found a .45-caliber gun and 270 bags of heroin last week. Both are facing several drug charges and are suspended without pay during the investigation.

Bus driver takes special-needs student to wrong school

A Hillsborough County (Fla.) Public Schools driver did not conduct a sweep of the bus after transporting students to their elementary school, and didn’t see the 9-year-old child sleeping on one of the rear seats when the bus stopped at the school. The driver continued on to pick up more students and transport them to their school, and, 40 minutes later, noticed the child and took her back to her school. The district is conducting an investigation.
