SEATTLE — GreenRoad’s real-time driver feedback and driver behavior monitoring application will be offered on Zonar’s 2020 mobile tablet, under a new agreement between the two fleet telematics providers.

The GreenRoad application provides Zonar customers with a set of driver behavior tools that help increase fuel economy, safety and fleet efficiency, company officials said. Features of the application include aggressive driving in-cab alerts, driver scoring in five safety categories, online accounts for self-assessment, and motivation and incentive programs.

At the management level, analytic tools identify drivers at risk or in need for training, potentially hazardous areas and problematic safety trends.

The 2020 tablet is the first transportation-centric telematics platform to offer the integrated GreenRoad solution. It joins an expanding list of third-party mobile applications available on Zonar’s Android device, including Drivewyze and ALK CoPilot.

“The GreenRoad application provides a new set of tools to improve driver behavior directly within the 2020 tablet,” said Vikas Jain, chief operating officer at Zonar. “Fleets using the 2020 are expanding the use of the mobile platform to streamline and improve a variety of driver functions.”

GreenRoad CEO Zeev Braude added that the collaboration with Zonar is “an additional vote of confidence in our leading driver behavior technology and the impact it has on fleet safety.”

In other news, Zonar recently installed its 300,000th telematics unit at Butler Machinery, an equipment dealer in Fargo, North Dakota.

Mike McQuade, a co-founder at Zonar, said that the implementation “marks a milestone in our company’s 13-year history. … This represents a culmination of innovation beginning with the patented EVIR system and, more recently, the 2020 Android transportation tablet and Daimler Trucks North America’s Virtual Technician.”
