Generate Capital has stepped up its financing partnership with Zum to support the continued growth and modernization of school transportation across the United States, according to a press release issued today.

Since closing its first transaction with Zum in 2024, Generate Private Credit has financed approximately $75 million in school bus deployments, supporting more than 500 buses across five school districts in three states. The partnership began with Zum's operations in Omaha and Millard, Nebraska, and expanded in 2026 to support its growing footprint in Fresno, California, and Seattle, Washington.

The financing will help Zum expand its fleet and supporting infrastructure.

"Growing up in rural Appalachia, I spent close to two hours every school day on a yellow bus. Zum's mission to modernize that experience for students in all parts of the country resonates with me personally," said Ryan Miller, managing director, private credit, Generate. "By combining technology with fleet electrification, Zum is helping school districts deliver more reliable, efficient transportation while managing costs. We're proud to provide the capital needed to support its expansion and bring modern student transportation to more communities."

Generate’s partnership with Zum reflects its approach to financing essential infrastructure that delivers both economic and environmental benefits.

“Access to education begins with being able to get to school safely and reliably every day,” said Ritu Narayan, founder and CEO of Zum. “Generate Capital has been an important partner in helping Zum build the infrastructure to deliver on that mission while accelerating the transition to cleaner, more sustainable student mobility. Their continued investment reflects the strength of our partnership and the scalability of Zum’s model as we expand nationwide. Together, we are building a modern mobility system that delivers for students and families today while creating cleaner, more resilient communities for the future.”

By combining Generate's long-term infrastructure capital with Zum's technology, operations and school district partnerships, the companies are helping scale a more efficient and sustainable student transportation model. The expanded partnership underscores the role of private capital in modernizing essential educational infrastructure while accelerating the electrification of school bus fleets.
