SEATTLE — Zonar’s new ZPass+ school bus rider notification service is now available as an app for Google Android phones.
Zonar developed ZPass+ to complement its ZPass solution. With ZPass, students are issued a unique RFID identification card. As the student passes the ZPass reader upon boarding and exiting the bus, the time, date and location are transmitted to a secure database.

ZPass integrates with Zonar’s HD-GPS technology that, in addition to several additional data points, captures latitude, longitude, time and speed at every data collection point. This provides school administrators with a clear view of the bus’ path, each stop and start, and the time, date and location at which the door was opened.
School districts access the vehicle and ridership data via Zonar’s Ground Traffic Control.
ZPass+ provides parents and guardians with student-specific ridership information via the website www.zpassplus.com, or via a smartphone.
The new ZPass+ Google Android app joins the previously released iPhone app so that parents can access the times and locations of their children’s scans. The apps will also enable SMS or push notifications pertaining to when and where their student boarded or exited the bus.
