School bus rental firm opens in China

Guangdong Tongan Automobile Rental Service's 16 buses reportedly meet the country's new safety and technical standard for school buses, and the number of buses is expected to grow to 1,000 by the end of the year. The buses are equipped with such features as GPS, emergency escape doors and seat belts.

GUANGZHOU, China — A specialized school bus rental firm that opened here has 16 buses in four sizes that meet China’s new safety and technical standard for school buses, China Daily reports.

Imported or domestically produced, each bus at Guangdong Tongan Automobile Rental Service is equipped with GPS, a child card reader and a vehicle data recorder. In addition, they all have a front bumper, emergency escape doors, windows and hammers, emergency lamps and seat belts. A driver and a supervisor are provided for each bus.

Guangdong Tongan will increase the number of school buses it operates to 60 by the end of this month and 1,000 by the end of the year, President Li Jianmin told the news source.
