FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. — The first known video of a school bus being pulled out of a river following what has been called the worst school bus accident in U.S. history will be shown as part of a new film, WYMT reports.

The team behind a 2009 documentary titled The Very Worst Thing, which covered the Feb. 28, 1958, accident that killed 26 students and the bus driver after the bus fell into the Big Sandy River, has finished a new film with the recently discovered home movie footage, according to the news outlet.

Many of the 22 survivors and other people connected to the tragedy told their stories to filmmaker Michael Crisp for the 2009 documentary, WYMT reports. Crisp told the news outlet that his new documentary, A Life of Its Own, will share what has happened since he made The Very Worst Thing, and will include a look at the making of the first film, a computerized 3-D recreation of the crash, and never before seen pictures and interviews.

The new film will be shown during a local event on April 10, according to WYMT.
