TRENTON, N.J. — Jerry Ford has been named director of the Office of Student Transportation for the New Jersey State Department of Education, replacing Linda Wells, who retired in 2005. Ford most recently was transportation coordinator for the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional Board of Education in New Jersey, serving in that position for 11 years. Before that, he was the president and chief executive of Tri J Coach and Amwell Valley Bus Co., both in Annandale, N.J., for 16 years. He got his start in school transportation by driving a school bus for Kevah Konner Inc. in Pine Brook, N.J., while he was in college. Ford served as president of the School Transportation Supervisors of New Jersey association from 2001 to 2005 and was a New Jersey delegate to the 2005 National Congress on School Transportation in Warrensburg, Mo. Ford and his wife, Barbara, live in Glen Gardner, N.J. They have three adult sons and one grandchild, all of whom live in New Jersey.
