The NGV Achievement Awards recognize national innovators and early adopters for their leadership, vision and innovation to advance natural gas as a vehicular fuel.

Among the 12 winners this year was Lee’s Summit (Mo.) R-7 School District, which was recognized for Outstanding CNG Fleet & Station Program.

The district has launched an initiative to transition its fleet over the next 10 years to buses powered by natural gas. As of this fall, 106 buses — about 71% of Lee’s Summit’s entire school bus fleet — have been replaced with CNG-powered models.

The other recipients of the 2014 NGV Achievement Awards are:

• Apache Corp. — NGV Advocacy & Fleet Implementation Program
