ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A man who reportedly has multiple outstanding warrants allegedly crashed into a school bus and threatened the life of the bus driver on Wednesday, police said.

At 8:53 a.m., police officers responded to a report of a collision involving a school bus, according to a Nixle alert from the Anchorage Police Department. The suspect, David A. Lee, threatened the life of the school bus driver and fled, police said in the Nixle alert.

No one on the bus was injured. (Five elementary school students were aboard the bus at the time of the crash, Catherine Esary, a spokeswoman for Anchorage School District, told KTVA.) However, Sgt. Shaun Henry of the Anchorage Police Department told KTUU that Lee was waving a gun before he was detained and was “ramming into” the school bus.

Three schools located near the scene of the crash were placed in “stay-put” mode, KTVA reports.

In addition to being arrested for multiple outstanding warrants, Lee faces several charges related to the incident, including assault, eluding, and providing false information. The Anchorage Police Department told KTVA that Lee has been wanted on several domestic violence assault charges after allegedly committing crimes against women, including striking, strangling, and shooting various victims.

Henry told KTVA that the collision appeared to be intentional, but that they “don’t know if the bus was targeted because it was a bus or just because it was there.”
