The nationwide school transportation provider is partnering with Netradyne, developer of AI-driven fleet safety technology.

First Student Adding Fleet Dash Cameras

First Student, a nationwide student transportation provider, and Netradyne, developer of artificial-intelligence driven fleet safety technology, are working together with the goal of creating safer roads and transportation for students.

The announcement, which comes as National School Bus Safety Week is underway, indicated that First Student will deploy Netradyne's Driveri vision-based driver recognition devices at selected locations, with plans to evaluate future expansion. The fleet dash cameras will be implemented as part of First Student's DriverScore program, which measures a driver's performance to help improve the quality and safety of transportation service for school districts and their families. Netradyne's devices also can interface with the Seon onboard camera system.

The Driveri system also is capable of detecting hazards and warning drivers to take corrective action.

Through Driveri, managers will have complete understanding of a driver's performance, including key performance indicators and a "Green Zone" that indicates when the driver is following training and driving safely. First Student drivers will receive feedback about their performance, with positive recognition and rewards.

Adam Kahn, Netradyne's president of fleet business, said that this partnership aligns with his company's core mission.

"While school buses are often regarded as the best option for transporting students to school, Netradyne's technology can play a massive role in making the ride even safer," Kahn said. "Our advanced vision technology can help drivers mitigate risks and create a safety-driven environment immediately upon deployment."
