Driver reports school bus sprayed with pesticide
A school bus driver reports that her bus was sprayed with pesticide when she was driving past an orchard last week. Twelve students were on board, but no illnesses have been reported as a result of the spray.
WENATCHEE, Wash. — The state Department of Agriculture is investigating whether an East Wenatchee orchardist sprayed a school bus with a toxic pesticide last week.
A school bus driver reported that as she was driving past an orchard, a spray hit the front windshield and passenger side of the bus, which was carrying 12 junior high and high school students and had several windows open, according to a story in The Wenatchee World.
The students' families have been contacted to alert them to the incident, and there have been no reports of illness or injury as a result of the pesticide spray.
The orchardist in the area who was determined to have been spraying on the day of the reported incident says he stopped spraying when he saw the bus approaching.
The incident remains under investigation by the Department of Agriculture and the state's Attorney General.
