ALPHARETTA, Ga. — A new product called Click 'N' Drive prevents shifting an automatic transmission from park unless the driver's seat belt is buckled.
"It only takes two seconds to buckle a seat belt to help maintain safety and productivity levels," said Tom Hazlett, regional sales director for Click 'N' Drive Georgia. “Click 'N' Drive can be the tool to enforce a zero-tolerance policy for not using seat belts."
The device is a one-inch cube that installs out of sight and connects to a sensor that is the size of a pill capsule. A certified technician can install Click 'N' Drive in 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the vehicle.
Click 'N' Drive relies on the same sensor system in a vehicle that controls visual and audible warnings when a driver's or passengers' seat belts are not buckled. The device and sensor interface only with a low-voltage circuit in the vehicle and not with the transmission, wiring harness, on-board diagnostics, anti-lock brakes or any safety systems.
Company officials said that Click ‘N’ Drive should work on school buses (for the driver’s seat belt only) as long as they are equipped with electronic shift interlock solenoids.
Click 'N' Drive is tamper-resistant and has a warranty for as long as the buyer owns the vehicle. Volume discounts are available for fleets.
