Collision strips rear tire off of bus
A vehicle crosses the center line of the road, striking the side of the bus. The crash shears two lug nuts off the bus' front left tire and completely removes the outer rear tire. No children are on the bus at the time of the accident.
CANNON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A witness to an accident involving a school bus claimed that the crash was caused by a tire breaking loose from the bus, but police now say the tire came off after the bus was sideswiped by a vehicle, mlive.com reports.
The vehicle crossed the center line on the road, hit the side of the bus and then collided with another vehicle behind the bus, according to state police. The crash sheared off two lug nuts on the bus’ left front tire and took off the outer tire at the back of the bus.
There were no children on the bus, and the bus driver was not injured.
