PERRY, Ga. — A Houston County Board of Education bus driver who failed to activate his bus' warning lights and stop sign resigned last Thursday after a student was struck by a passing car, The Telegraph reports.
Stephen Wilson was cited with reckless conduct after an Eagle Springs Elementary School third-grader exited his bus last Wednesday to cross the road and was struck by the right-side mirror of a passing Ford Ranger.
The child did not suffer any major injuries. Houston County Board of Education Superintendent of Schools Robin Hines said Wilson was forthcoming and remorseful in the incident.
