Anti-idling equipment installed in Vt. school buses
SHELBURNE, Vt. — Officials from the Chittenden South Supervisory Union have equipped 48 of their school buses with a new electrical system that is designed to prevent the vehicles from idling. The systems were installed in response to a bill signed by Gov. Jim Douglas in May that prohibits drivers from idling their buses while on school grounds. To read the full story, click here.

Retired school buses up for auction
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — A group of individuals from Central America, Africa and the Middle East gathered together recently to bid on approximately 270 retired school buses. The vehicles are used in other countries as a mode of public transportation. To read the full story, click here.

Ala. to conduct lap-shoulder seat belt study
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — On Monday, members of the Governor’s Study Group on School Bus Seat Belts voted to seek proposals from Alabama universities to do a three-year study on the effectiveness of lap-shoulder seat belts in school buses.
