Blue Bird talks propane at Wis. education event
Reps from the school bus manufacturer and Charter Fuels are on hand during the 2012 Wisconsin State Education Convention this week to discuss the advantages of running school fleets on propane.
MILWAUKEE — Representatives from Blue Bird Corp. and Charter Fuels attended the 2012 Wisconsin State Education Convention this week to discuss the advantages of running school fleets on propane.
The convention is being held through this Friday at the Frontier Airlines Center.
Officials from the fuel provider and school bus manufacturer were on hand as a resource for state educators to learn more about the alternative fuel, which they said can help school districts with shrinking budgets drive cleaner.
"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share the benefits of clean-burning, affordable propane autogas with our state's educators," Charter Fuels General Manager Bill Langlois said. "Autogas is an ideal fuel for school buses because it will save money for school districts while also helping to protect the environment for future generations."
Officials said that propane is the most widely used alternative fuel in the world, and 90 percent of the U.S. supply is made in America.
They also noted that propane is an average of $1 less per gallon than gasoline, and vehicles often require less maintenance because the fuel burns cleaner than gasoline.
