3 speakers join U.K. transport conference lineup

The new speakers that the Interchangeability 2014 conference added are a broadcast journalist who has worked on crisis communications projects around the world; the founder of TO BE WORLDWIDE, an organization that builds educational facilities in Ghana; and the director of student engagement and mobility management at Easter Seals Transportation Group.

BUCKINGHAMSHIRE, England — Three speakers have joined the lineup of Interchangeability 2014, which will be held here June 15-18.

Officials said the conference is designed to gather school transportation professionals from around the world to share ideas and best practices. The program includes general sessions, facilitated workshops, hands-on seminars, technical tours and an exhibition.

The additional speakers are:

• Charlotte Hume, a broadcast journalist with 20 years in international television news and current affairs with Independent Television Network and the British Broadcasting Corp. She has extensive knowledge of the transportation and logistics sector and has worked on crisis communications projects around the world. Hume will run a media and crisis communications workshop on the second day of the conference.

• Nellie Kirschner-Timmer, founder of TO BE WORLDWIDE, which builds educational facilities that complement the existing school structures in Ghana. During the conference, Kirschner-Timmer will provide an outline of the innovative and cross-agency strategies that have enabled TO BE WORLDWIDE to offer children better access to educational opportunities and realize their full potential.

Judy Shanley, the director of student engagement and mobility management at Easter Seals Transportation Group in the U.S. Shanley has developed a curriculum for educators, families, human services and transit providers to facilitate knowledge and skills around transportation education. Shanley will present plenary sessions and workshops on how to include young people with special needs in transportation planning, through effective education, travel training and interagency work.

The event's lineup also features speakers from Malta, Italy, others from the U.S., Canada, South America, the Middle East and the U.K.
