In school transportation, access to equipment, charging infrastructure, field service and technology support can be just as important as the vehicles themselves. Three recent company moves highlight investments in the infrastructure and services surrounding transportation fleets.

BendPak Opens New Alabama Industrial Complex

Vehicle service equipment manufacturer BendPak has completed the first phase of its new Donald R. Henthorn Industrial Complex in Mobile County, Alabama, expanding its logistics, distribution, sales, and service capabilities.

The complex sits on 33 acres near BendPak’s existing East Coast campus and is named for late company founder Donald R. Henthorn. The company's growing Southeast operations are intended to strengthen its ability to serve customers throughout Eastern North America.

Phase 1 includes a 261,600-square-ft. logistics and distribution center that combines product distribution, warehousing, and quality control with customer-facing sales and service operations. The facility also includes office space and a showroom for product demonstrations, training, customer visits, and special events.

For fleet maintenance operations, the expansion could mean improved access to BendPak's vehicle service equipment. The company said the new facility is designed to improve product availability and fulfillment speeds, with many in-stock products able to ship the same day. BendPak's product portfolio includes vehicle lifts, EV battery lifts, tire changers, wheel balancers, brake lathes and other shop equipment.

The Alabama development is being built in phases, with the site designed to accommodate additional growth. It follows other BendPak real estate investments in California and Alabama.

InCharge Energy Adds Dallas-Fort Worth Sales and Service Office

InCharge Energy has opened a new Dallas-Fort Worth Sales and Service Office, giving the energy infrastructure company a permanent regional hub for sales, field service, and customer support in Texas.

The expansion is particularly relevant to school transportation operations navigating fleet electrification because the location will support EV charging infrastructure from design and deployment through maintenance. Its services also include electrical infrastructure, battery energy storage systems, solar, microgrids, preventative maintenance, repairs, and emergency field service.

InCharge said the local presence is intended to provide faster response times and improved lifecycle support for infrastructure projects throughout the region. Texas is experiencing growth in fleet operations and distributed energy investment, among other sectors, according to the company.

Transit Technologies Relocates Headquarters to Charlotte

Transportation software provider Transit Technologies has relocated its corporate headquarters from Knoxville, Tennessee, to Charlotte, North Carolina, as the company continues to expand its transportation, fleet, and mobility technology offerings.

The Charlotte headquarters became effective July 1. Transit Technologies said the relocation will not affect service delivery, client support, or ongoing operations.

The company's software is designed to help transportation providers improve operational visibility, fleet performance and decision-making through data, automation and AI-driven insights. Its customers include public transit agencies, airports, universities and specialized transportation operators.

“Public agencies shouldn’t have to choose between innovation, compliance, and speed,” said Gerry Leonard, Chief Executive Officer of Transit Technologies. “Establishing our headquarters in Charlotte reflects our ongoing commitment to growth, operational excellence, and being a trusted, American-built partner for the agencies investing in the future of public transportation.”
