CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two women here have been charged with assault and interfering with a school bus after allegedly punching a school bus driver in the face and upper body, police told WSOCTV.
Police told the news source that Tiara Henderson and her sister, Josephine Henderson, boarded a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools bus on the morning of Sept. 11 and assaulted the driver. The women were arrested last week, according to WSOCTV.
Tiara Henderson told the news source on Monday that her 5-year-old son and nephew were afraid to ride the bus because they said that the bus driver was mean and yelled at students. She said that she and her sister wanted to ask the driver about the situation, and weren’t looking for a confrontation. She added that the driver would not answer their questions and got angry, so the sisters boarded the bus to remove their children, and she denied hitting the driver.
Tiara Henderson also said she and her sister are now banned from the school bus stop and the school their children attend, according to WSOCTV. On Monday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools told the news source they had investigated the incident and charged the women with interfering with the operation of a school bus, but did not comment on the incident.
