School bus driver killed in crash had heart attack
Autopsy and toxicology reports on New York driver Edwin Rivera DeJesus show he had an underlying heart condition, dispelling rumors that he was intoxicated during the accident.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Medical reports show a school bus driver here who died in January when the bus he was driving crashed into a tree had an underlying condition that caused a massive heart attack, Time Warner Cable News reports.
Edwin Rivera DeJesus, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene on Jan. 6. A bus monitor and eight students were injured, and everyone on board was taken to the hospital.
The autopsy and toxicology reports on DeJesus show that he had a hereditary medical condition, according to the news source. Family members of DeJesus told Time Warner Cable News they are glad that rumors about him being drunk or high at the time of the accident have been dispelled. DeJesus’ sister told the news source that the heart condition caused him to pass away instantly.
