Bullet Strikes Virginia School Bus
A bus carrying students from James Madison Middle School was struck by a bullet in one of its tires this week, according to WDBJ7. No one aboard the bus was hurt. Verletta White, superintendent of Roanoke City Schools in Virginia, said she wasn’t aware of anything like this happening before. White credited the bus driver for keeping the students safe aboard the bus: “Our school bus driver, Ms. Marjorie, she’s a hero today. She stayed calm, she kept our students calm, and she was able to navigate the bus in a way that she didn’t have an accident. We are so grateful to her and all of our bus drivers.”

According to MLive, the accident happened on U.S. 31 as the driver of the otherwise empty bus slowed for a traffic backup. The motorist didn’t have time to avoid the crash, police said, and died from her injuries. The bus driver wasn’t hurt.
