BELTON, Mo. — Safe Fleet has acquired FleetMind Solutions Inc.

Montreal-based FleetMind supplies “smart truck” solutions for the waste industry — onboard computing systems that enable waste and recycling fleets to link their drivers and vehicles to business operations in real time, targeting improved safety, productivity, sustainability, and customer service.

FleetMind solutions have been installed in thousands of refuse collection vehicles across North America, providing real time information to drivers and dispatchers about a truck’s load-weight, route status, service completion, vehicular telemetry, and driver activities.

“The addition of FleetMind expands Safe Fleet’s growing position in fleet management software and hardware for specialty fleet vehicles,” said John R. Knox, president and CEO of Safe Fleet. “The FleetMind product line is complementary to Safe Fleet’s existing fleet management products and expands Safe Fleet’s presence in the waste and recycling market.”

FleetMind will maintain operations out of its Montreal headquarters and its regional representation throughout North America. Co-owners Martin Demers, CEO, and Martin Lord, chief technology officer, will continue their leadership roles as vice presidents within Safe Fleet.

“For over 15 years, FleetMind has built a strong brand for its leadership in fleet management solutions for the waste and recycling industry,” Demers said. “By joining the Safe Fleet family, we gain a strong global partner who shares our vision of safer, greener, and more productive fleets, and who brings access to new resources, technologies, and markets toward accelerating our product and growth strategies.”

FleetMind is Safe Fleet’s fourth acquisition in the video and telematics sector, an area of rapid growth for the company. Most recently, Safe Fleet acquired Rear View Safety, a provider of backup camera systems and video-based road safety solutions.

The Safe Fleet fold also includes such school bus industry suppliers as Specialty Manufacturing, Seon, and Transpec.

Financial terms of the FleetMind purchase were not disclosed.
