CANTON, Ohio — A Canton City Schools bus driver has been charged with several misdemeanors for an accident in which he struck a pedestrian, who later died, according to a story on cantonrep.com.
On Oct. 1, James Livery turned his school bus east onto a road, striking Vance H. Fether, who suffered severe head and abdominal injuries. He died a short time later. There were reportedly seven children on the bus at the time, and none of them was injured. Brian Zimmerman, Livery's attorney, told the news outlet that state investigators conducted accident reconstruction and determined "there was no criminal wrong-doing on his [Livery’s] part. They established the bus driver would never have been able to see this poor man before the accident."
