Buncombe County Public Schools (BCS) in Asheville, North Carolina, is continuing a two-year partnership with Safety Vision to deploy mobile video surveillance systems on its school buses.
The systems will be installed on all 240 buses in the district’s fleet, according to a news release from Safety Vision.
Over the last two years, David Rhoney, the director of transportation for BCS, witnessed firsthand the technology and customer service behind Safety Vision’s products.
He said that this experience made it, “…an easy decision to continue to partner with Safety Vision to ensure the safety of our students and bus drivers,” and that the company’s mobile video surveillance system “…has surpassed my hopes for stop-arm violations support.”
Most recent data from the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services (NASDPTS) annual stop-arm violation survey reported 95,494 illegal school bus passes in one day observed from 39 reporting states. More than 3,000 of those illegal passes were reported in North Carolina.
