After nearly 30 years in the industry, Danny Thede will step down as Indianola Community Schools’ transportation director in September.
INDIANOLA, Iowa — Danny Thede, transportation director for Indianola Community Schools, will retire in September.
Thede has worked in school transportation since 1987. He has served as transportation director for Indianola since 1998. Earlier in his career, he held that position in State Center and in Perry, both in Iowa.

In addition to his district positions, Thede has served on the board of the Iowa Pupil Transportation Association for 23 years, including several terms as president. He has also attended almost every National Association for Pupil Transportation conference since 1987, and he has served for many years on the body writing committee for the National Congress on School Transportation.
Thede’s plans for retirement include fishing and spending a lot of time with his family.
