GM supplies chassis under those brand names for some Type A school buses, but school bus manufacturers contacted by SBF said that the truck announcement would not affect their product lines.
GM had been trying to sell its medium-duty truck business since 2005. The company said in a statement that it had worked with “multiple potential buyers.”
The halting of the medium-duty truck production affects about 400 of 2,100 workers at a GM plant in Flint, Mich., Automotive News reported.
GM CEO Fritz Henderson told reporters that the affected workers would be deployed to other facilities or offered an attrition program.
