MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Durham School Services donated a school bus to Knowledge Quest to help the South Memphis non-profit organization fulfill its mission: to help young people maximize their potential through intellectual and character development.

The newly retrofitted and colorfully designed school bus was presented to Knowledge Quest leaders, joined by South Memphis community stakeholders, on Tuesday, at Durham School Services’ new Memphis training and recruitment facility.

David A. Duke, CEO of National Express, the parent company of Durham School Services, handed the keys of the bus to Marlon Foster, the founder and executive director of Knowledge Quest.

“Organizations like Knowledge Quest can be life-changing and Durham is always excited by the opportunity to expand the impact of this organization through enhanced transportation,” Duke said.  “Giving back in Memphis where we live, work and serve, and being a good neighbor is fundamental to our company’s culture.”

Knowledge Quest plans to use the bus to transport children to one of their three sites and to special programming events.

“One of Knowledge Quest’s challenges is transporting children amongst our three program sites for various ‘Adventure Education’ opportunities. This bus will support our efforts of doing so safely and efficiently,” Foster said. “We’re grateful to have a company like Durham investing in the future of our children.”

Additionally, Bridgestone Tires donated new tires for the bus.
