Bus rear-ended by distracted driver

SPENCER, S.D. — A bus from Hanson School District was rear-ended by a pickup truck Wednesday, sending at least four students to the hospital, The Daily Republic reports.
Arlo North, 23, said he had glanced down for a cell phone call just prior to striking the bus, which was waiting at a bus stop. About 20 students were on board at the time, and the students who were waiting to board had not crossed the road yet.
At least two of the students were treated and released from the hospital, while another was kept for further observation. Charges against North are pending.
