Bus company has 70 routes for school choice program
Illinois Central School Bus subsidiary Missouri Central School Bus is serving the Voluntary Interdistrict Choice Corp. in St. Louis under a three-year contract. The Missouri State Patrol recently inspects the fleet and officials say it exceeds the state’s excellence standard, with no buses out of service.
ST. LOUIS — Illinois Central School Bus subsidiary Missouri Central School Bus has been assigned 70 routes for the Voluntary Interdistrict Choice Corp. (VICC), which oversees the St. Louis area desegregation program.
Missouri Central is in the second year of a three-year contract with VICC. The company provides home-to-school student transportation from the city of St. Louis to 12 suburban school districts.
On March 5, the Missouri State Patrol performed its inspection of the fleet, which is a top to bottom, inside and out one-day inspection of all units.
The state of Missouri recognizes 80 percent as a good score, and awards a fleet excellence award to scores of 90 percent or better. Officials said the fleet exceeded the state’s excellence standard the first time through, with no buses out of service.
