Barry Sudduth became the new president of the National Association for Pupil Transportation on Oct. 6.

ALBANY, N.Y. — Barry Sudduth, the former president-elect of the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT), has taken on the role of president of the organization.

Keith Henry, the previous NAPT president, passed the mantle to Sudduth on Friday, when his three-year term as president officially ended. Henry served one extra year in the role due to the unexpected passing of Don Carnahan during his presidency in October 2014.

“In retrospect, the extra year I have served as your president was a blessing, a unique opportunity to grow personally and professionally,” Henry wrote in an email message to NAPT members on Thursday, adding that “Like all other presidents of this great association, I have tried to help NAPT grow and prosper, to enhance its position as the industry’s premier showcase of creative people, innovative products and services, and especially new ideas that will help us enhance and improve student safety.”

In addition to having served on the board of directors in his role as president-elect, Sudduth is also the chair of NAPT’s Professional Growth Committee. He has served on the board of directors since 2011, when he was elected Region 2 director.

Sudduth has taken over the role of NAPT president from Keith Henry, shown here.

Outside of his work for the organization, Sudduth is the executive director of fleet and transportation services for Stafford County Public Schools in Virginia.

Kenny Mulder, the current Region 4 director, will serve as acting president-elect for one month, and Henry will serve as Region 4 director, in an effort to keep the current board of directors intact until Nov. 7, the last day of the NAPT conference, Henry added in the email message.
