TEMPE, Ariz. — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run with a school bus here last week.
According to the Tempe Police Department, on the morning of Sept. 22, a black Ford Taurus failed to yield at a red light and hit a Tempe Elementary School District bus. The impact pushed the bus from the center lane onto the median.
No injuries were reported among the students or the driver on the school bus. The car driver fled from the scene.
A few hours later, the Tempe Police Department posted information about the crash on social media. The driver was an adult female, police said, and the Taurus was a newer model with chrome accents and serious damage to the driver’s side. Included with the post was an image captured from the windshield of the bus that showed the car moments before it collided with the bus.
After disseminating the information, police received a tip from a community member that they said led to the identification and arrest of suspect Renee Scozzari on Tuesday.
“We cannot thank you enough for sharing this post and helping us identify her and her vehicle,” the Tempe Police Department said in an update on Facebook on Wednesday.
Authorities charged Scozzari with failing to stop and remain at the scene of an accident.
