App provides alternative fuel station location data
The Cleaner and Greener Fuels app from Leonardo Academy is available for download free of charge from the iTunes app store, the Google Play store and the Cleaner and Greener website. It provides routes to stations on a series of interactive maps for such fuels as compressed natural gas, biodiesel, propane and electricity.
A new app is available that enables users to locate alternative fuel stations across the U.S. from their smartphone or other mobile device.
The app, called Cleaner and Greener Fuels, was developed by Leonardo Academy, and it is available for download free of charge from both the iTunes app store and the Google Play store (for the Android market), or from the Cleaner and Greener website.
The Cleaner and Greener Fuels app provides routes to alternative fuel stations on a series of interactive maps, and it also provides such information as access restrictions, blend types, payment methods accepted and web links, when available. It covers the following types of alternative fuel: electricity, compressed natural gas, biodiesel, liquefied natural gas, E85, propane and hydrogen.
“Leonardo Academy is dedicated to developing sustainability strategies for people, companies and organizations,” President Michael Arny said. “We believe that this app will be a vital step in encouraging drivers to explore opportunities to increase sustainability, reduce their environmental footprint and achieve better fuel efficiency through the utilization of alternative fuels."
The data for the app were obtained from the Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels & Advanced Vehicles Data Center. To ensure its accuracy, Cleaner and Greener Fuels starts with fueling locations verified by the center.
