Nebraska woman fined for threatening bus driver

On Dec. 11, Victoria Gerold boarded the school bus and yelled at and threatened the driver, whom she said curses at the students who ride his bus, including her two sons. She pleads guilty to trespassing and disorderly conduct and is charged $515 in fines, court costs and surcharges for the two misdemeanors.

Trans Tech all-electric bus passes certification in California

The SSTe is now legal to operate in the state after passing the California Highway Patrol’s certification, and the first bus is scheduled to go to Kings Canyon Unified School District in Reedley, Calif. Officials for Trans Tech Bus say the SSTe is scheduled to start full production later this year.

Students to be transported on buses with seat belts after accident

Starting with the 2014-15 school year, the buses used at Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City, Mo., will be equipped with three-point seat belts, and a monitor will be on board to make sure that the students are strapped in. Officials make the decision after 22 students were injured last year when their bus tipped onto its side en route to a camp.

Report: School bus driver faulted in fatal Idaho crash

In last month's school bus crash near Kuna, Idaho, investigators reportedly believe that the bus driver stopped at a stop sign and then pulled into the path of an approaching dump truck. One student was killed and four others were injured in the collision at a rural intersection.

Utah bill would provide $20M for alt-fuel school buses

House Bill 41 would allow the state Board of Education to award a grant to a school district or charter school to replace a school bus manufactured before 2002 with a bus that uses compressed natural gas, propane or clean diesel fuel. The grant could also be used to install an alternative-fuel fueling station and to retrofit an operation’s maintenance facility to service alternative-fuel school buses.
