Trucker charged for passing school bus, nearly striking girl

Allen H. Morris is being charged with two misdemeanors after passing a stopped school bus and almost hitting Alexis Schwartz, a sixth-grade student who was about to board the bus. The bus video shows how the truck nearly ran over Schwartz, who was not injured.

Tennessee school board temporarily restores bus service

The Oak Ridge Board of Education is bringing back school bus service to about 1,300 of 1,800 students who had been affected by an expanded “parent responsibility zone,” following protests from parents and grandparents. The zone was expanded to 1.5 miles in June in an effort to reduce a $1.25 million budget deficit.

School bus strikes, kills New Jersey woman

Leyla Kan was walking through an intersection, and even though she and Esperanza Jaramillo, the driver, had the green light, Jaramillo allegedly did not yield the right of way. Police have issued motor-vehicle summonses to Jaramillo for careless driving, failure to yield to a pedestrian who had the right of way, and driving with a vehicle with badly worn tires.
