Age: 39

Works for: IC Bus

Role: Sales Director - EV Bus

Describe a day in your professional life.

Borror: The days in the EV bus world are fast moving. One of the most important things is being out with our dealers and customers and hearing their feedback. Once we understand feedback, working cross functionally with different teams like marketing, engineering, or finance to ensure we are meeting the needs of our customers. Additionally, because EV is so new to everyone, we are often finding new processes that need to be implemented that we have never had to think about before. Lately, with the different funding that's available through local, state, and federal grants, we have been focused on how we can better serve our customers and dealers in finding and applying for grant assistance. Every day is different and filled with a lot of collaboration both with customers and the internal IC Bus team as we strive to provide the best-in-class bus in the industry.

What brought you to the transportation industry?

Borror: After spending over 11 years at Navistar in different roles within finance and parts, an opportunity came up to join IC Bus in the EV space. It sounded like an exciting opportunity to be at the ground level of the transition of the school bus industry into electric. It has been a pleasant surprise to find so many great people in this industry all working towards the same goal of providing safe transportation for the students who ride in our buses every day.

What’s something critical that you’ve learned during your time in the student transportation industry?

Borror: Being immersed in BEV, it's been interesting to see and understand the diverse views around the transition to electric school buses. It's important as we walk with customers through their electric journey we understand where they are coming from and meet them where they are today. There are many challenges and also many tailwinds, so the different perspectives are very real and can be extremely different across school districts. Being willing to listen to customers before we offer a solution has been extremely helpful.

What’s your advice for someone considering a career in this industry?

Borror: The student transportation industry is a small community that thrives on strong and deep relationships. It's an opportunity where it feels like the entire industry works together to continue to move the industry forward for the betterment of the children. As the industry transitions to EV, there are so many new opportunities in sales, charging, engineering, and infrastructure - it really is an exciting place to be. If you like building strong relationships and making an impact on the safety of children, this is a great industry to join!
