  To shed some light on the personalities who make up the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) board of directors, the association has launched a series of board member profiles. Here, we hear from Steve A. Simmons, NAPT Region 3 director and director of transportation at Columbus (Ohio) City Schools.

If you were an animal, what kind would you be?
STEVE SIMMONS: My dog Samantha (the princess). She lives a better life than I do.

If you had a time machine, where would you go?
Jerusalem, during the time of Jesus.

If you could rid yourself of one deeply personal fear, what would it be?
Fear of spiders.

If you were to receive a surprise package in the mail today, what would it be?
Golf clubs.

If you could have any other talent/role, what would it be?
Being a pilot.

If you could relive one moment over and over again, what would it be?
To be able to call my mother the day before she died and to tell her to stay home the next day. She was killed in an auto accident.

If you were to pick what is inscribed on your gravestone, what would it be?
“Here lies Steve. He always bled yellow, but was a very funny fellow.”
