For more than 20 years, IMMI has engineered, designed, tested, and manufactured lap-shoulder belts, integrated seats, and portable restraints for school buses under the brand SafeGuard. While the complete SynTec product line will continue to be available, the brand transition to IMMI SafeGuard began on Friday, IMMI stated in a news release announcing the acquisition.

“Today marks the start of an exciting new chapter for IMMI,” said Tom Anthony, president of IMMI.  “Our team has worked hard to design the safest, highest-quality seat on the market to protect our children. This acquisition helps to get us one step closer to the day that every child on every school bus will have a lap-shoulder belt when they’re traveling on our highways.”

IMMI will continue to manufacture SynTec’s current line of seating products while working to integrate SafeGuard seats into the mix. “We look forward to bringing together the best that both of our teams have to offer the market,” added Larry Gray, CEO of IMMI. “SafeGuard seats are already engineered for Thomas Built Buses, so we expect a smooth transition with this integration.”

“We are thrilled to join IMMI,” added Chad Blankenship, general manager of SynTec Seating Solutions. “Bringing together our two teams and shared values allows us to deliver the best product and service to our customers at a greater scale.”
